July 22nd-2011 Sketch and new DT member introduction

Thank you all so much for joining us on our last sketch challenes and I'm so spyched you all liked that sketch..LOL and so, this weeks sketch reveal has another original sketch for SOUS made by me, Nanné.. I think these are so much fun and I absolutely adore what the DT members have made using it..  I'm so blessed to have so many wonderful ladies in my life that inspire all of us to create something amazing and original..
I hope you want to join in on the sketch challenge this week and remember, we have our monthly blog candy give away fro those that enter all of the challenges..
and we also have a little announcment to make..
We have a new addition to our Sketch team and her name is Jane Stirling..

Please welcome her to the team everybody, we are so lucky to have her...

Hello, my name is Jane Stirling. My husband and I are Scottish, however, we emigrated to Perth, Western Australia in 2000, eleven years yesterday, actually. Thus the Scossie Jane – Scottish/Aussie.
you can find my blog by clicking HERE

I have a wonderful scrap tolerant husband, two adult children, and three adorable granddaughters, who are the subjects of most of my layouts.

I have been scrapping since 2004, and still have not defined my style – elegant/vintage maybe. I don’t do whimsical, not yet, anyway. Things are known to change quickly in the scrappy world!

Like my love of sketches. I had never used a sketch until the appearance of a new blog called Stuck On U Sketches in 2009. I used their debut sketch on 1st October 2009 and have only missed a few since then!

So, when Nanné, Sandi and Leah invited me to be a part of the SOUS Sketch Team I was honoured and excited, and did not hesitate in accepting their invitation.

I am looking forward to being part of this great team, along with the rest of the DT, and hope I can inspire you as much as they have inspired me.

Hugs

Jane J

Make your own Flourishes with Ness

Hi everyone Ness here to share with you today something I did quite sometime ago now but love this technique.

These flourishes you can make in advance and just keep making them and extend on the one's you have already bought too.

Ok so lets get started

Some supplies you will need to get started

1. Flourishes you have in your stash still attached to the clear backing
2. Liquid Pearls (you can also use stickles and puffy paint)
3. Transparency Sheets
4. and of course your scanner and printer (or take it down to your local newsagent to have photocopied).

Step 1.

Put your flourish face down on the scanner. Scan and save to your computer. Print this sheet out and this will be your template. You can also change the sizes of your flourishes by making them larger or smaller.

I scanned a couple of different one's on the 1 sheet to use for this tutorial today. Keep these templates to use again in the future.

Step 2.

Place your transparency sheet over the top of the scanned flourishes template and start dotting with the Liquid Pearls. If you over dot don't worry just wipe it off with a wet one and start again. Too easy no mistakes plus you can always cover with a flower or other embellishment if needed.

Step 3

Allow to dry. Once dry trim around your flourishes and place on your layout.

I love this technique and the colours are endless really, with new colours to add regularly. I did a heap of them all at one time so I have plenty to use for awhile and I still have plenty left in my bottles of Liquid Pearls to keep making more when I need to.

You can also use more than 1 colour for your flourish to give it a totally different look.

Here is a layout I have done using this technique. All the flourishes on this layout are handmade using this technique.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial today and give this one a whirl, you won't be sorry.

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Tutorial Friday!

Good Morning! Its Bonnie here today to share with you all what I call the looped flower that I made on my last layout for SOUS!
Supply list

Mother's Day Bouquet Cartridge
2 - 2 " loop flower
2 - 1 3/4" loop flower
2 - 1 1/2" loop flower
button or center of your choice
embroidery floss
adhesive
Glimmermist
distress ink
blending tool
foam pad
stylus or paint brush
scissor

I used Aged Mahogany to ink the edges of my flowers.

Take each flower individually and press the stylus into the flower following the shape of the flower on the top side[ on your foam mat] This will give it a cupped look.

Take your Glimmermist and lightly mist the flowers, I used a clear pearl color just for some glimmer.

Start gluing your flower together starting with the largest to smallest, staggering the petals.

Take your embroidery floss of thread and tie it to the button.  I  used embroidery floss, not separating the threads until after I tied it.  I gives it a fun look.

Take your adhesive and glue the button onto the top of your flower.  You can leave it like this, as I did on my latest layout "Shh..." OR

You can take a squire and roll the edges of each petal down for a more polished look. Ta DA!  You are now done!  Pretty easy, eh?  The flower is limited only to your imagination.  Thanks for joining me today!  I hope you all give this flower a try and use it on your next layouts!

Be Blessed!
Bonnie
